Who We Are

We are a grassroots organization of Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods community members who care deeply about public education and Grosse Pointe public schools.

We believe that educational excellence is best achieved when we:

✧ Prioritize students

✧ Attract and retain outstanding educators

✧ Create a supportive learning environment for all students

✧ Adhere to transparency in decision making

✧ Work collaboratively as stakeholders

We urge transparency and seek to hold the Grosse Pointe Public School System’s Board of Education accountable by attending school board and committee meetings, voicing our concerns, and demonstrating support for students, teachers, and staff in our district.

We are concerned about attacks on public education in communities across Michigan and throughout the country. Public schools need our support to maintain their integrity, quality, and accessibility for all students.

Alliance for GP Public Schools is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization. We are a dedicated volunteer group of Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods residents who are invested in our school system.

What We Want

We want the GPPSS School Board to focus on providing the best educational opportunities for all students in this increasingly diverse district. We want the board to work collaboratively with administration and stakeholders to thoughtfully and carefully address the challenges that we, like many school districts, are facing due to declining enrollment and increased needs and costs, including access to mental health services for students.

We lament the division and turmoil that is afflicting the GPPSS community. We hope to build bridges by informing the community, promoting civic engagement, and encouraging civil discourse in our efforts to support Grosse Pointe public schools.
